After using an eSIM, you may find that your messages in iMessage are not working correctly. Please review the eSIM Quick Start Guide: How to Install an eSIM and eSIM Connection Troubleshooting Guide to make sure your settings are correct.
Still having trouble? No worries, the settings below will restore your iMessage to default settings.
When you install a Travanzi Mobile eSIM, your phone will add a new secondary line for mobile data. The secondary line (eSIM plan) should be used for data only, while your Primary line is set as the Default Voice Line.
Since the eSIM plan does not support voice or SMS, we don’t want to enable it for iMessage. Trying to send iMessages directly through the eSIM line will fail.
Note: You can still use the eSIM internet connection to send and receive calls and SMS, but this needs to be supported by your carrier, and additional charges may apply. See: How to Enable Calling and Texting on your eSIM (Wi-Fi Calling).
For further assistance with iMessage if your messages are still not working, please refer to Apple’s official iMessage documentation: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118433.
First, select an eSIM data package for the country where you are traveling, or currently located. You can find our full selection of eSIM cards on Travanzi.com.
After purchasing an eSIM, you will usually receive a QR Code via email within 5 minutes.
After successfully activating your eSIM, your device will begin searching for a signal immediately. In most cases, a data connection will be established immediately, and you will see 5G or 4G LTE in the signal status. This means you are connected and ready to go!
In rare cases, it may take up to 15 minutes for a data connection to be established. Please be patient, as there are many data carriers and environmental factors that can affect the activation time.
There are multiple reasons why your eSIM may appear connected to the network, but is not getting an Internet connection on a 4G LTE or 5G network.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE eSIM FROM YOUR PHONE! If it’s not working, don’t worry — please follow the steps below or Contact Us if you need assistance.
In your phone’s Settings, go to Cellular (or Mobile / Mobile Service) and select the eSIM data plan under Cellular Plans. The eSIM plan may be called “Secondary” or “Personal”.
If you are using an eSIM on an Android device and there is no data connection, please check the APN settings by following the steps below:
On your device Settings screen, enable Airplane Mode and wait 30 seconds, then switch it off again. This will force the device to re-connect to the cellular network.
Wait up to 15 minutes for the eSIM data plan to successfully authenticate and begin receiving 4G LTE or 5G data.
If resetting the data connection does not work, you may need to select a network manually. Follow the steps below:
“There’s an issue with your SIM profile. To fix the issue, contact your carrier.”
Due to an issue with the way Google Pixel phones read eSIM QR codes, you need to use the Manual Activation Code to activate the eSIM on your phone.
Not to worry, this is an easy process! Please follow the steps in our guide: How to activate an eSIM with Manual Activation Code .
After activating your eSIM via QR code or manual activation code, you may see the above error message on your iPhone.
Please ensure your phone is connected to a working Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection before installing the eSIM. An internet connection is required to verify and activate the eSIM.
In many cases, the eSIM is already installed on your phone after scanning the QR code. To verify:
If you can find the eSIM and the settings above are correct, your eSIM is ready to connect automatically when you arrive at your destination. No further action is required!

If you locate the eSIM and all settings are correct, your plan should connect automatically once you reach your destination
This error usually means that your iPhone is carrier-locked and cannot install data plans from other providers.
Please contact your mobile carrier to request a device unlock. In most cases, this can be done remotely via customer service (phone or live chat).
You can make and receive calls using your regular phone number if your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling. This allows your phone to connect to your home network over the eSIM’s internet data connection. This means no roaming charges and seamless communication abroad.
When Wi-Fi Calling is active, your phone will connect using internet data (eSIM or Wi-Fi), and you’ll see something like “Carrier Wi-Fi” in the status bar. Your phone will then send/receive calls and SMS as usual.
Note: If the Wi-Fi Calling option is missing, your carrier may not support this feature.
Maya Mobile has no access to your regular carrier settings or charges. Always confirm with your carrier to ensure no unexpected roaming fees while abroad.
If you’re unable to scan the QR code or prefer a different activation method, follow these steps to activate your eSIM manually.
If you do not see the manual activation option on your device, it’s likely your phone does not support eSIM. Please contact Maya Mobile for a cancellation or refund.
If you receive an error like “Unable to Activate eSIM”, the eSIM might already be installed. Please refer to our eSIM Connection Troubleshooting Guide to check your phone’s setup.
Activate your eSIM in minutes and get online fast — or lock in your data plan now and we’ll auto-activate it when your trip begins. Easy. Effortless. Done.
